Cloud Forest Yagé is located in a remote region of the Amazon Rainforest and requires regional travel within Colombia. Guests arriving from the United States and Europe can fly into El Dorado International Airport in Bogota and pick their preferred method of transportation.
Traveling from Bogota, Colombia
SATENA is a Colombian airline company that services rural regions of the country. They offer one flight per day from Bogota to Villagarzón. A Cloud Forest Yagé caretaker will pick you up at the Villagarzon airport. Bus companies run numerous routes per day to Mocoa where we will be waiting to pick you up from the transit center. Both pick up locations are a short drive to PUENTE AGUACATE (Avocado Bridge) which is the entrance to Mocoa’s Zarzal community. From here you have the option of riding horseback or motor cart up the mountainside to reach Cloud Forest Yagé Retreat.
AIRPLANE: Bogota to Villagarzón
Check Flight Availability: Search for flights from Bogotá’s El Dorado International Airport (BOG) to Villagarzón Airport (VGZ).
Book Your Ticket: Book your ticket either through the airline's website or an online travel booking platform.
Prepare for Your Trip: Pack according to the airline’s baggage policy and check their guidelines on prohibited items and security measures.
Travel to El Dorado International Airport: Arrive early to allow time for check-in, security clearance, and boarding. You can get to the airport via taxi, rideshare, or public transport.
Check-in: Check in with the airline counter at the airport. After checking in, proceed through security to the departure gate.
Board Your Flight: Keep an eye on the flight information screens for any updates regarding your flight.
BUS: Bogota to Mocoa
Choose a Bus Company: Decide on a bus company that operates the route to Mocoa, such as Coomotor, Expreso Bolivariano, Cootranshuila, or Transipiales.
Purchase Tickets: You can buy tickets either online through the company’s website or directly at the bus terminal.
Travel to the Terminal: Buses to Mocoa depart from the Terminal Salitre in Bogotá. You can reach Terminal Salitre by taxi, rideshare, or public transport.
Arrive Early: Get to the terminal at least an hour before your departure to check in, find your bus, and secure your luggage.
Board the Bus: Once you've checked in and found your departure gate, board the bus as instructed. Seats are usually assigned when you purchase your ticket.
Prepare for the Journey: The trip to Mocoa takes around 12-13 hours, so bring water, snacks, and anything you might need to stay comfortable. It’s also wise to have a book or some entertainment for the long ride.
